Dr. Đào Thơ – A Mother, Pediatrician, and Innovator in Child Healthcare

As a mother of two young daughters and a pediatrician who has cared for thousands of children, Dr. Đào Thơ deeply understands the anxiety and stress mothers face when caring for ill children—especially during prolonged illnesses without a clear solution. Motivated by the desire to reduce disease severity and recurrence in children and to alleviate maternal stress, Dr. Thơ made the courageous decision to leave a beloved hospital and establish FICH Kids Healthcare—Vietnam’s first pediatric healthcare group to unite top experts and a distinctive process to fulfill its mission of improving children’s health and supporting Vietnamese moms. This group was spun off from FICH Group Pharmamed, which she also founded.

“What is the ‘new-style’ diagnosis and treatment that helps reduce illness, severity, and recurrence?”

Dr. Thơ explains:

“It’s a comprehensive approach—from identifying root causes and precise diagnosis, to proper treatment, timely action, and consistency in diagnosis, treatment, and counseling among doctors. Many mothers leave a consultation unclear about their child’s condition, treatment duration, the illness’s cause, home monitoring, when to hospitalize, or how to prevent recurring episodes, leading to anxiety. Treating the child also means addressing the mother’s emotional stress—explaining clearly to reassure her into caring confidently. This is central to my medical practice.
All of this is systematized at FICH Kids Healthcare, which is a complete ecosystem:

3. FICH Kids Academy—training parents to proactively protect children’s health at home, school, and in the community

How did Dr. Thơ achieve this significant transformation—shifting not just her own mentality but also that of medical staff and parents?

She shares:

“I devote time to researching products that deliver rapid health improvements in children without long-term side effects. If a product doesn’t meet quality standards, we don’t consider it, regardless of partnerships or marketing. The approval process for adding a product into FICH Kids Pharma is rigorous—partners know this.
I rewrote clinical diagnosis and treatment protocols to be concise and practical for FICH doctors—helping them diagnose correctly, rapidly, and refer children to hospitals when necessary. I also developed a safe emergency referral process so children can be transferred securely.
I began organizing online training courses for mothers so thousands can participate, rather than answering one-on-one. I standardized processes so doctors adopt uniform diagnostic methods. I implemented checks to minimize medication errors and misdiagnoses. I also oversaw the development of a convenient medical software for doctors to prescribe and record accurately. And I created first-aid protocols for emergencies at home, school, and in the community—birthplaces of FICH Kids Academy and FICH Kids School. And there’s still so much more to do.”

Her Vision and Continuous Learning

Driven by her ambition for FICH Kids Healthcare to expand nationwide and benefit more children and mothers, Dr. Thơ pursued a Master’s in Pediatrics, then continued to learn “with her left hand” by simultaneously managing the organization and studying for an MBA from Andrews University (U.S.), taught entirely in English, as part of a Vietnam–U.S. collaboration. She is also earning a Ph.D. in Healthcare Management to deepen her expertise in medical–pharma quality improvement, risk control, and organizational leadership, positioning herself as a top advisor on healthcare management and enterprise risk in Vietnam. This complements her role as founder of FICH Group Pharmamed Vietnam, the nation’s leading medical–pharmaceutical consulting and risk management firm.
