Premature puberty is the appearance of the physical and hormonal manifestations of puberty at an earlier age than usual (under 8 years in girls and under 9 years in boys). Early puberty may grow in height rapidly compared to its peers but will stop growing sooner than usual. Children will be of lower stature than average in adulthood. So early treatment is often quite effective, helping children gain height than without treatment.
